RACHEL MEULER: Sum of Their Parts. MARCH 4. 2010.
Announcing the first solo exhibition at Rabbitholestudio of new paintings by Queens-based artist RACHEL MEULER, whose large-scale works Who Wants To Be On Top and Looking For Water In The Empty Nest were featured in the Fall 2009 Emerging Artist Show. …

Who Gets To Be On Top, 73” x 82”, oil and graphite on linen, 2009
… Originally from Kentucky, Ms Meuler creates paintings on unstretched linen that depict mutation, virus and a deterministic reordering of species through a layered, almost subliminal approach. Fused creatures seem to exist on multiple dimensional planes, as though viewing several possible futures without preconceived outcomes. They are immaculately rendered with both painting and drawing elements and presented at a scale so that the works themselves become their own hyper-Darwinian biosphere, self-contained visions which will be explored through both the micro and macro lens.
